CGA volleyball sweeps

Bears make it nine straight by defeating Endicott, Emerson in NEWMAC play

Boston — Makenna Martin had 25 assists and 10 digs as Coast Guard Academy rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win its ninth straight match, 25-20, 21-15, 15-25, 25-20, 15-8 over Endicott in the second match of its New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference volleyball doublehead­er on Saturday.

Angelou Dunton had 17 kills and 14 digs for the Bears (121, 2-0) and Nikki Sefcik had 24 assists and 10 digs. Also, Veronica Hine had a team-high 22 digs and Amanda Dake had nine kills and 10 digs.

In Coast Guard's first match, Dake had 19 kills and 20 digs in a 25-23, 25-21, 17-25, 25-18 NEWMAC win over Emerson. Martin had 30 assists, Dunton had nine kills and 11 digs, and Veronica Hine had 25 digs for the Bears. Sefcik added 12 digs and Destiny Johnson had seven kills. In other matches: • Sophia Randall had 21 assists and six digs as Saint Joseph (Me.) beat Mitchell College 25-12, 25-15, 23-25, 2517. Cameron Childs had 26 assists and five digs, Shyla Phillips-Krick had 14 digs, and Laurissa Amaker had eight kills and 10 digs for Mitchell (0-6).

Brenna Miller had 36 assists and five digs as St. Joseph swept Mitchell 25-20, 25-16, 25-23. Childs had 19 assists and five digs, Phillips-Krick had 13 digs, and Nikki Gerald had seven kills and three digs for the Mariners.
