• UConn senior quarterbac­k David Pindell, who accounted for six touchdowns in a 56-49 win over Rhode Island Saturday, was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll. He threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns. It's the first time this season a Husky has been honored by the AAC. • UMass Dartmouth junior libero Jillian Sykora of Waterford earned Little East Conference volleyball defensive player of the week honors earlier this month. Sykora has a team-high 94 digs through seven matches. In women's soccer, Stonington graduate Ella Rath, a junior midfielder, scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Plymouth on Saturday. It was her second goal of the season. • Nisha Rajamohan of Waterford is the captain of the RPI women's tennis team. A biomedical engineerin­g major, she has played in 50 career singles matches, posting a 20-30 record, and gone 32-21 in doubles action. • Northern Vermont University-Lyndon goalie

Victoria McCormack, a sophomore from East Lyme, has appeared in four games as a reserve, making 11 saves. • Senior midfielder Aly Clarke, a Fitch graduate, scored her team-high third goal of the season for the Eastern Connecticu­t State women's soccer team in a 4-0 win over Keene State on Saturday. • Former Ledyard football standout Josiah Shumaker's junior season at the University of New Haven is off to strong start. A defensive back, Shumaker has eight tackles in three games and returned an intercepti­on 62 yards for a touchdown in a season-opening loss to Bryant University. • Assumption College junior running back Khaleed

Exum-Strong, who competed in football, wrestling and track during his NFA days, has rushed for a team-high five touchdowns in three games this season. He has 187 yards on 26 carries overall. • East Lyme graduate Isabelle Riker, a freshman defender, has appeared in five games as a reserve for the Union College women's soccer team. • St. Bernard graduate Patrick Halloran, a senior competing for the Central Connecticu­t State University cross country team, completed the 8K course in 28 minutes, 53 seconds, at the recent Nassaney Invitation­al in Smithfield, R.I. In the women's race, CCSU sophomore Megan Brawner, an all-stater performer out of Ledyard High School, posted a time of 18:48 in the 5K race. Sophomore midfielder Stephanie deLaforcad­e, East Lyme's all-time leading scorer for girls' soccer, has appeared in all nine games for Syracuse and started five times. She began her college career at Maryland before transferri­ng. • UConn redshirt senior Cecile Pieper was selected as the Big East Conference field hockey defensive player of the week for the second straight time and goalie Cheyenne Sprecher earned freshman of the week. The Huskies (7-0, 1-0) are ranked second in the nation.

Tracking the Bears

• Coast Guard Academy senior kicker Cole Austin earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference special teams athlete of the week honors in football. Austin kicked field goals from 36 and 38 yards and converted all three point-after kicks in his team's 27-20 victory at Nichols College on Friday. Austin is 5-for-5 in field goal attempts this season. The NEWMAC selected sophomore Veronica Hine as its volleyball defensive athlete of the week. Hines helped the Bears win all four of their matches, including two in conference play. She is second in the NEWMAC with 179 digs.

Mariners riding a wave

• Mitchell College's Sam Gaboury, a Montville graduate and The Day's 2018 golfer of the year last spring, received his second straight New England Collegiate Conference rookie of the week award. Gaboury fired a 5-over par 75 to tie for third overall at the Emmanuel College Invitation­al last week, helping the Mariners place second and record the lowest team round (311) in their Division III history. He owns the lowest stroke average (78) on the team. In men's soccer, the NECC honored sophomore

Quinn Outerbridg­e and Daniel Hotaling with conference player of the week and rookie of the week, respective­ly. Outerbridg­e had three goals, including a game-winner, and an assist in wins over Worcester State University and NECC foe Southern Vermont College. Hotaling, a defender, made a goal-line save versus Worcester State and helped the Mariners (2-2, 1-0) shut out Southern Vermont.

Freshman Mark Garceau became the first Mitchell cross country runner to be selected as NECC rookie of the week since 2016. He placed 12th overall in the Mitchell Invitation­al last week, finishing in 17:54.

Camel highlights

• The Connecticu­t College women's soccer team will attempt to keep its Whale Cup game winning streak alive on Wednesday when the Camels visit Coast Guard Academy at 4:30 p.m. The Camels have lost only once (2010) in the series. They posted a 1-0 victory last season. Sophomore Kat

Norton, who played club soccer for Southeast, leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist. Senior Alex Baltazar has three goals while New London's Mia Santana, a junior forward, has started all four games.

The Bears (3-2) are led by former Waterford standout Claire Hurley, who owns team highs in assists (5) and points (nine) and ranks tied for first in goals with two. Sophomore Kaylee Ballard also had two goals. Emily Rivera, a freshman from Old Lyme, is a back-up goalie.
