Groton — Barbara A. Zeppieri, 84, of Groton, died peacefully Sunday evening, Sept. 16, 2018, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London.

Barbara was born Sept. 23, 1933, at The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich to Peter X. Morosky Sr. and Margaret (Haggerty) Morosky. She grew up in Uncasville, attending school in Montville and Norwich Free Academy.

She married Fred Zeppieri Jr., at St. John's Church in Montville, on April 25, 1953. They lived and raised their family in the Groton area. Barbara was a stay-at-home mom. Later, she worked in the cafeterias at West Side Middle School and Robert E. Fitch High School.

Family was everything to Barbara and her husband, Fred. Their three sons and seven grandchild­ren were the center of her life. Her opinions were never a secret and there was never a dull moment with Barbara.

Barbara is survived by sons, Timothy Zeppieri and his girlfriend, Lily Marcial, Thomas Zeppieri and his wife, Dale and Fred Zeppieri and his wife, Lisa; grandchild­ren, Ali, Tim, Matt, Chris, Jeff, Holly, David; brother, Leo Chupaska and his wife, Chris; sister, Ann Weir and her husband, Al; sisters-in-laws, Carol Chrissos and her husband, George and Marie Morosky-Tyrseck and her husband, Tom; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Zeppieri Jr.; her parents; and brother, Peter X. Morosky Jr.

Thanks to the staff at Beechwood in New London and special thanks to Lily Marcial and Aletha Stewart for unending support through the years.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton, a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, 52 Sacred Heart Drive in Groton. Burial will take place at Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, Groton.
