Mystic — Shirley M. (Henry) Brown, 90, passed away peacefully at Apple Rehab, Mystic, on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018.

Born on March 14, 1928, in New Haven, the daughter of Raymond E. and Viola M. Burdick Henry, she attended local schools and attended South Lancaster Academy in Lancaster, Mass.

Shirley worked as a school bus driver for children with special needs for Groton Public Schools as well as a clerk in the plan vault at EB-General Dynamics. She enjoyed bowling, golf, shuffle board, biking, fishing and cards. Travel was her favorite pastime.

In 1980, she married Burton Brown and they visited all 50 states (49 in their camper). They eventually traveled to England, Scotland, Ireland and Italy. Following Burton's retirement, they became snowbirds and lived six months of the year in Wintergard­en, Fla.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Joyce Sturman (Herbert) of North Stonington; grandchild­ren, Kristen Gallagher (Brian) of Preston and Scott Sturman of North Stonington; and great-grandchild­ren, Aidan and Norah Gallagher of Preston; and sister, Velora Jaquith-Davis of Groton.

She is predecease­d by her husband, Burton Brown; son, James Allyn Marshall; granddaugh­ter, Stephanie Lynn Marshall; and her brother, Everett Henry.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, Mitchell Street in Groton.
