Waterford’s Hurley scores twice as CGA women roll 4-0

New London — Waterford's Clarie Hurley scored a pair of first half goals as the Coast Guard women's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 win over Mount Holyoke on Wednesday night in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference game.

Hurley, a junior, moved into fourth place on Coast Guard's career goal list with 18. She is also fourth all-time at the Academy with 11 assists.

Hurley struck fast as she scored the game's first goal at 2 minutes, 29 seconds. She scored her second goal at 21:15 to push the Bears ahead 2-0.

Jocelyn Highsmith and Rachel Samotis also scored goals for Coast Guard (5-4-1, 2-1-1). Sabrina Robertson, Brielle Pearce, Lizzie Miller and Felicia Lombardi each added an assist and goalie Emily Rivera had two saves. The Lyons are 3-6-1, 1-3. In other matches:

• Sophomore Kat Norton registered her first career hat trick as Connecticu­t College rolled to a 6-0 victory over Eastern Connecticu­t State University. Freshman Sarah Moore scored her first collegiate goal while Tori Kretzmer and Sam Miesemer each added a goal for the Camels (63).

Girls' soccer

• Lindsay Clement had a goal and two assists as St. Bernard downed Griswold 3-1 in an Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division III game. Victoria Hannaford and Caroline Codner scored, Elizabeth Hannaford had an assist, and Olivia Massad had four saves for the Saints (7-3, 2-2).

• Claudia Blazquez scored a pair of goals as Waterford defeated Ledyard 3-0 in an ECC Division II match. Riva Blinderman also scored for the Lancers (4-4, 1-2), who led 2-0 at halftime, while Julia Karlberg and Anna Kovacs each had an assist. Goalies Mya Rheaume and Mckenzie Gregory combined to make four saves, including a penalty kick stop by Gregory with three minutes left. Goalie Savannah Wahrer made nine saves for Ledyard (3-5, 1-2).

• Kaleigh Bolduc scored three goals as Stonington rolled to a 5-0 victory over New London in an ECC Division III match. Megan Detwiler and Alex Jefson also scored goals for the Bears (7-1-1, 4-0) while Kate Johnson and Vanessa Benjamin had two assists each. New London is 3-7, 0-4.

• Bullard-Havens rolled to a 6-0 win over Grasso Tech in the Connecticu­t Technical Conference. Dinorah Cruz made 15 saves for the Eagles, who were outshot 21-5.

• Layla Chavez scored both goals in Putnam's 2-0 win over Wheeler in an ECC Division IV match. Addie Hauptmann made 15 saves in goal for the Lions (0-8-1, 0-5).

Girls' volleyball

• Riley Riewerts had eight assists, seven kills and seven aces as Norwich Tech topped Grasso Tech 25-7, 2521, 25-12 in a Connecticu­t Technical Conference match. Amaya Mendez had 10 assists, five kills and four aces for Norwich Tech (5-4, 5-1) and JoJo Rivera had five aces and two digs. Samarie Delgado had 20 digs and seven kills, Heather Carlin had 12 digs and five assists, and Michelle Warren had 15 digs for the Eagles (0-10, 0-9).

• Gretchen Dusza had 18 assists as Waterford swept Griswold 25-20, 25-16, 25-8. Ryleigh Gonyo had seven kills and six aces for Waterford (9-2) and Jenny Keth added 13 digs and four aces.

• Katie Krupansky had 20 digs and nine kills for Ledyard in its 25-12, 27-25, 25-16 win over Plainfield. Kira Kassim had 13 digs and seven kills for Ledyard (5-6) and Miranda Chesnut had eight aces.

• Fitch won its third straight match with a 25-6, 25-20 and 20-16 nonleague win over Hale-Ray. Olivia Carney had 24 assists for the Falcons (74) while Nyseannah Ishmael added 10 kills, Nora Ryan 15 kills, Aby Hagley 15 digs and Aria Lupo nine digs.

• Cromwell outlasted Old Lyme 3-1 in the Shoreline Conference. Game scores were 25-17, 25-22, 20-25 and 25-17. Taylor Thompson had 14 kills for the Wildcats (0-10) while Isabel Dean-Frazier added 16 digs and Katie Reid had 17 assists.

Men's soccer

• Noah Parker accounted for both goals in Babson's 2-0 non-conference win over Mitchell College. Ex-Norwich Free Academy goalie Seth Strader made seven saves for the Mariners (3-6).
