Pawcatuck — Leonard J. Novak III, of Pawcatuck, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at Westerly Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jane (Dibble) Novak; and his parents, Leonard J. Novak Jr. and Sarah (Mercier) Novak. In addition to his wife and parents, he will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Kaeli and Emily of Pawcatuck; his brothers, Dean and Corey Novak; mother-in-law, Sharon Dibble; brother-in-law, Michael Dibble and his inamorata, Elizabeth Preli; sister-in-law, Amy Daley and her husband, Bill; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Westerly, he attended Stonington Public Schools. Lenny began his career at a young age with the Mystic Seaport, after which he was employed with the Coca-Cola company in New London. Though he enjoyed his years with Coca-Cola, he discovered working inside was just not for him, so he started his own business, Len’s Landscape and Stonewalls, which he truly enjoyed for many years.

A selfless individual, Lenny found enjoyment giving back to the community by volunteering with the Quambaug and Stonington Borough Fire Departments in his youth. More recently, he was an active member of the Pawcatuck Lions Club for over 15 years and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship award for Humanitarian Services. Lenny’s hobbies and personal passions included fishing, hunting, skiing and gardening.

Visiting hours for Lenny will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Mystic Funeral Home on Route 1 in Mystic. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Mary Church in Stonington. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Pawcatuck.
