Mystic — Arthur H. McDonough Jr., 81, of Mystic, beloved husband of 55 years to June (Ross) McDonough, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018.

Born in New London, he was the son of the late Arthur H. McDonough and Abbie (Hendrickso­n) McDonough and lived in Mystic since 1967.

He was employed at Pfizer as a chemical operator and later as a security guard up until his retirement in 1991.

In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, David McDonough and his wife, Heidi, of Pawcatuck, Lori Wynd and her husband, Michael, of Chantilly, Va., Mikel McDonough and his wife, Dawn, of Stillwater, Okla., and David B. McDonough and his wife, Marcie, of Baden, Pa.; a brother, Vincent Sauer and his wife, Patti, of Westerly; nine grandchild­ren; four great-grandchild­ren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predecease­d by a daughter, Kelly McDonough; a son, Chris McDonough; a granddaugh­ter, Emma; and his four siblings, Earl and Stephen McDonough, Fonda McElhaney and Patricia Banks.

Visiting hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, followed by a service at 1 p.m. at the Mystic Funeral Home on Route 1.

A graveside service with U.S. Air Force honors will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Route 27, Mystic.

The family would like to thank VITAS Healthcare for the care given to Art during his illness.
