Magowan leads Stonington past Fitch in boys’ soccer, 2-1

Ledyard loses in OT and shares Div. II crown with Bacon and Woodstock

Groton — The Stonington boys' soccer team wrapped up an unbeaten season in Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division I play with a 2-1 win over Fitch on Tuesday.

Jamison Magowan scored one minute into the game and he assisted on RJ Parrilla's goal 4:30 into the second half which made the score 2-0. Tyler Cady scored for Fitch with 8:50 left in the second half. Peter Fernholz of Stonington (13-1, 6-0) and Ramiro Zavala of Fitch (6-8-1, 2-4) each made five saves.

• Darian Stanchina's second goal of the game came 1:20 into the second overtime period and lifted Bacon Academy to a 3-2 win over Ledyard in an ECC Division II game. The result created a three-way tie for the Div. I title between Ledyard (10-4, 6-2), Bacon (8-5, 6-2) and Woodstock (8-5-1, 6-2), which beat Waterford 2-0.

• Alex Kosinski and Robbie Swenson both had a goal and an assist to pace East Lyme past NFA, 4-0, and give head coach Paul Christense­n his 350th win in his 31st season. Duncan Manthous and Noam Sokolovsky both scored, Kurt Mahlke and Brian Callegari each had an assists, and Sunny Lall had six saves for the Vikings (11-3, 3-3 ECC Division I). Troy Maurer had five saves for the Wildcats (3-10, 1-5).

• Huck Gelhaus and Eric Phongsa both scored second half goals to give Woodstock Academy its 2-0 win over Waterford in an ECC Division II game. Anthony Sachatello had seven saves for the Lancers (4-9, 1-6).

• Scott Pion scored the go-ahead goal with 2:30 left in the game to give Wheeler a 2-1 win over Putnam in an ECC Division IV game. Ian Spracklin had a goal and an assist for the Lions (10-4, 8-0) and Seth Jones had an assist. Bowen Baker added three saves. Hunter Touchette scored for the Clippers (1-11-1, 1-5) and Tyion Harris had five saves.

• ECC Division III champion Lyman Memorial beat Montville 1-0 in overtime. Jack Anderson scored for Lyman (11-1-2, 8-0). Keaton Sulman made 10 saves for Montville (10-4, 4-4).

• Jonathan Foster's first half goal stood up to give St. Bernard a 1-0 win over Plainfield in an ECC Division IV game. Mike Whipple and Martin Arvidson combined on three saves for the Saints (9-4, 6-2). Joey Calorio had eight saves for the Panthers (5-8, 1-6).

• Abram Rosario had three goals and an assist as Windham Tech beat Grasso Tech 6-2 in a Connecticu­t Technical Conference game. Connor Cooley and Robert Holland scored goals, Kevin Duarte had an assist and Joel Potter made 14 saves for Grasso (2-10-1).

• Chad Cramer scored three times and Austin Desrosiers scored twice as Ellis Tech downed Norwich Tech, 5-1, in a CTC game. Ben MacKenzie scored for Norwich Tech and Don Duca had 20 saves.

Girls

• MacKenzie Teper and Abigail Tucker scored two goals each as NFA beat East Lyme 5-3 in an ECC Division I game. Kayla Park had a goal and three assists and Juliette Hogan had two assists for NFA (7-4-2, 3-1-1). Alivia Catanzaro, Meredith Healy and Anna O'Connor scored for East Lyme (10-4, 2-4).

• Wheeler lost to Windham Tech in a nonleague game, 3-0. Addie Hauptmann made six saves for Wheeler (010-3).
