Norwich — Claire Minteer, 86, went home to the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018.

She was born in Berlin, N.H., on June 4, 1932, to the late Michael and Mary (Cantin) Bergeron. After graduating from Notre Dame High School, she married Stanley Minteer on Nov. 26, 1953 at The Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich. He predecease­d her.

Claire worked in many capacities throughout her life including: J Daren Cash & Carry, Arrow Paper, Diagnostic Medical Lab and as a church organist, choir and music director at Sacred Heart — Norwichtow­n, St. John’s, Fitchville, St. Mary’s, Stonington Borough and as a private piano mentor. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society and Women’s City Club. She achieved earning her baccalaure­ate in music and was passionate about music throughout her life. She volunteere­d at the Norwichtow­n Convalesce­nt Home as well. She was a spiritual woman who loved her Catholic faith.

She is survived by her sister, Jeannette Hubbert (Richard Hubbert); sister in-law, Claire Bergeron of Florida; daughters, T. Michele Minteer of Litchfield, Diane Minteer of Norwich, Cynthia Minteer of Norwich, Carleen Davis (Edward Davis) of Chesapeake, Va., Martha Minteer of Norwich; grandchild­ren, Lyndsay Judkins (Erik Judkins), Devon Colburn, Elizabeth and Edward “Nate” Davis; great-grandchild­ren, Dylan and Cole Judkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predecease­d by her brother, Gerard Bergeron; and sister, Terese Bergeron.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Sacred Heart Church, 52 W. Town St., Norwichtow­n. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
