Eleanor Mather

Niantic — Eleanor M. (Bezanson ) Mather, 93, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at Crescent Point in Niantic.

She was born Aug. 22, 1925, attended Waterford schools and graduated from the former Williams School in 1943.

She worked as a dental assistant in the office of Avery Fitch. When her children were grown, she returned to work as a secretary in the law office of Frances McGuire. After her retirement she volunteere­d many hours at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

Eleanor enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was an avid reader. Her real passion was the decorative painting she did for many years. Most of her family and friends have something she painted.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Bisbee, and husband, John, of Chesterfie­ld, Mass.; five grandchild­ren, two great-grandchild­ren, and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband Alden, son Richard, and great-grandson Thomas Bisbee predecease­d her.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Crescent Point in Niantic for their outstandin­g care for Eleanor during her stay.

The family will receive visitors at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, at Flanders Baptist Church, 162 Boston Post Road, East Lyme, until the start of the service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Waterford.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to Flanders Baptist Church Building Fund, 162 Boston Post Road, East Lyme, CT 06333.
