Groton — John A. Raimondi, 91, of Groton, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 1, 2018, at Fairview in Groton.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 17, 1927, the son of Michael and Teresa (DeAdamo) Raimondi. He was married to Carol Moorehead on July 21, 1956; she survives.

John was a Navy veteran of World War II and he had worked as a design supervisor at Electric Boat Company retiring in 1984.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Groton, the Groton Lodge of Elks and he had served as a captain for the Eastern Point Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Carol Webster and husband, Eric, of Groton and Teresa Raimondi and partner, Robert Pia, of Mystic; a brother, Mario Raimondi of Breezy Point, N.Y.; and a sister, Leah Olynciw of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

He was predecease­d by his brothers, Nicholas, Ceasar and Joseph; his sister, Mary Kraeger; and his grandson, Andrew John Ameika.

The family wants to thank everyone at Fairview in Groton for the compassion­ate care provided to him over the past few years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Sacred Heart Church, 56 Sacred Heart Drive, Groton. Private interment will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today Friday, at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton.
