Back candidates who support fair elections
Polling shows the overwhelming majority of Americans support reducing “the influence of corruption in political elections.” Americans want elections free from the corrupting influence of excessive spending by outside interests and fair enough that anyone can run for office.
Wolf-PAC, a nonpartisan organization committed to federal campaign finance reform through state resolutions, has requested candidates sign a pledge stating they would “vote in favor of and support the Free and Fair Elections Resolution applying for a limited Article V Convention for the exclusive purpose of proposing an Amendment to fix our broken campaign finance system.” Congress, under control of either party, continues to ignore this growing problem. History shows passing state resolutions is the most effective way to pressure Congress to act on behalf of the American people.
Representatives Christine Conley, Joe de la Cruz and state Senate candidate Bob Statchen and over 35 candidates across different parties in Connecticut signed Wolf-PAC’s pledge (www.wolf-pac.com/list_politicians_ who_signed_free_and_fair_elections_ pledge).
On Tuesday, as a citizen of Groton, I will support candidates who will help Connecticut address the one issue that affects all other issues. Americans want elections, not auctions.
