Waterford — Helen P. Larimore, 80, of Quaker Hill, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 4, 1938, in New London, the daughter of Michael and Ellen (Gilmore) Donahue, she grew up and lived most of her life in New London until retiring to Quaker Hill in 1997. She graduated from New London High School in 1956 and worked as a secretary for the Metropolit­an Life Insurance Company and later for the U.S. Government at the Naval Submarine Base, New London. It was here that she met and married her husband of 58 years, Ernest T. Larimore.

Helen was a caring, compassion­ate daughter who became the primary caregiver to both of her parents in their later years. She was a wonderful mother who was involved in many youth activities including acting as an assistant Girl Scout leader and cheerleadi­ng coach. Later she was caregiver once again to her beloved grandsons. Helen loved to garden and cook. She enjoyed crafting, doing the daily crossword puzzle and watching the Red Sox. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Ernest Larimore; her daughters, Julie Labrecque and husband, Michael, of Waterford and Kathy Mitchell and husband, Timothy, of West Hartford; grandsons, Brian Labrecque of Groton, Matthew Labrecque of Waterford and Declan Mitchell of West Hartford; sister, Anna Mae Knight of Waterford; niece, Karen Knight; and nephew, Kevin Knight.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, New London. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New London. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London.
