Having their voices heard
If this is the unofficial year of the woman, a wonderful group to provide the soundtrack is the Lorelei Ensemble.
Their mission is “to advance the women’s vocal ensemble through passionate, engaging artistry and creative collaboration.”
This Boston-based ensemble, which has been praised by critics for The New York Times and The Boston Globe, consists of nine female singers and reinvents early works of the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque eras. But that’s not all. They also have commissioned and premiered more than 50 new compositions in the 11 years since they began.
The Lorelei Ensemble will perform Friday at Connecticut College. The night before the concert, there will be a demonstration and discussion of “Crafting a New Normal for Women in Music,” which is, like the show, open to the public.
