Boston — Ryan Charles Murphy, 30, of Boston, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018 in South Boston, Mass.

Born in Westerly, R.I., the night of Dec. 25, 1987, Ryan was the son of Pearl (Flynn) and Dexter Murphy of Mystic. He earned his B.A. in communicat­ions from Louisiana State University. Ryan enjoyed working in sales and business developmen­t for Rogue Wave Software in downtown Boston. Previously, Ryan worked at Oracle, Burlington, Mass., and also with JobTarget in New London.

Growing up, he was a lector and altar server through his senior year of high school at Saint Mary Church, Stonington. He enjoyed skiing during the winter and swimming at East Beach in Watch Hill, R.I. during the summer. Ryan enjoyed playing soccer, basketball and lacrosse during his middle school and high school years. He loved supporting all the Boston sports teams as an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and of course his alma mater, the LSU Tigers.

Ryan leaves his parents (Mystic) and brother Brendan Murphy (Watertown, Mass.); his uncles D’Arcy Murphy (Ormond Beach, Fla.), John Flynn (Old Saybrook) and Stephen Flynn (East Hampton); his aunt and uncle Pamela and John Carroll (Camillus, N.Y.); and his cousins Courtney Flynn and John Declan Flynn (West Simsbury). Ryan leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Ireland and the U.K.

He was predecease­d by his grandparen­ts Natalie (Rogers) and Charles Edmund Murphy and Patricia (Blease) and Thomas Flynn; and by Patricia Murphy (Aunt Pat), all of whom he was very fond of and we of him.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary Church, 95 Main Street, Stonington. Burial service will be private.
