East Haddam — Mark Alliston Moore, 63, died Nov. 20, 2018, after maintainin­g courage and optimism in dealing with lymphoma for over a year.

Mark was born in the August heat of Rantoul, Ill., in 1955 to Dean Alliston Moore and Mary Frances (Wooten) Moore who predecease­d him.

Mark had an excavation business, then a wall stone business and most recently his home improvemen­t business Moore Projects. He was a gifted carpenter with an artistic eye. He built two complete homes by himself, from digging the foundation to creating the finish trim and everything in between.

Mark had an endless well of heartfelt love for his family. He is survived by his loving wife and dear friend of 30 years, April Posson. Also surviving him are his children, Mark H. Moore (Mary) and Melissa Forrest, his stepdaught­ers, Jennifer Kowalczyk (Kenneth) and Kathryn Gregory (Matthew), and all those to whom he was Grandpa: Ryan and Megan Schneider, Karlee Forrest, Ian Nadeau, Gabrielle Moore, Cassandra Jedlinski, Joshua and Allison Gregory, and Theodore Kowalczyk. Mark leaves behind his brothers Victor, Robert and Kendrick Moore, and sisters Deanne Moore and Guinda Reeves. He was predecease­d by his brother Wayne Moore. He also leaves behind Josh Nuzzilillo to whom he was Uncle Dad, his first wife Joann Cummings Speedwell, and many others who cared deeply for Mark.

Mark was a completely dependable man of steady habits who knew who he was and who stayed true to himself.

There will be a celebratio­n of Mark’s life at All Souls Unitarian Universali­st Congregati­on, 19 Jay St., New London, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2.

Donations may be made in his name to the church or to the East Haddam Land Trust, PO Box 122, East Haddam, CT, 06423. Mark treasured the fact that the land where he grew up is now preserved by the EHLT so all can enjoy it.
