Mystic — Evelyn A. Welles Ellithorpe, 66, of Mystic died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at her home.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Richard A. Ellithorpe.

She was born in Mystic on July 7, 1952, the daughter of Gertrude E. and the late Albert W. Welles.

Evelyn grew up in Mystic and attended local schools, graduating from Fitch Senior High School. She graduated from TN Technical College with a bachelor’s degree in biology and then went on to earn her BSN from Austin Peay in Tennessee. She worked as shift supervisor of the neonatal unit of the Florence A. Blanchfiel­d Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, Ky., and loved taking care of the infants and children of service members.

She was a member of Central Chapel United Methodist Church in Woodlawn, Tenn., and Second Baptist Church Fellowship in North Stonington.

She tended many animals: her donkey Elvis, chickens, goats, her cow Dolly, her dog Minnie Pearl and many cats, and her two pigs, Gert and Bill, fondly named after her parents.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her four children, Chad, Joshua and Jonathan Ellithorpe all of Clarkville, Tenn., and Jeremy Ellithorpe of Orlando, Fla., and six grandchild­ren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Peter and William Welles, both of Mystic.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at Second Baptist Church of North Stonington, 149 Pendleton Hill Road in North Stonington. Burial will be private for the family. Donations in her memory may be made to Second Baptist Church of North Stonington.

The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., historic downtown Mystic is assisting the family.
