Fay Rheaume

-

Waterford — It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Nana, Fay Rheaume, at the young age of 99 years old. Fay was born Nov. 20, 1919, in Albany, Ga., to William Thomas and Lonnie Irene White. She had 11 siblings and lived on a wonderful family farm where they grew their own food. She married the late Robert H. Rheaume, on Aug. 2, 1943. He predeceased her in December 1998.

Fay worked for decades at FINAST supermarket in the New London Shopping Center. After retirement, she worked at IGA in East Lyme until the age of 83. Above everything, Fay enjoyed her family and working in her yard. She was also an excellent cook.

Fay and Bob had a wonderful life with their two children, Bernadette Brackett (John) and Alan Rheaume (Donna). They had four grandsons, Gary Brackett (Laura), Craig Brackett (Kristen), Jeffrey Rheaume (Elizabeth) and Brian Rheaume (Melissa), and 12 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kayla, Baylee, Brooke, and Blake Brackett, Tyler, Austin, Mya, Angelia, Linnaya, and Brielle Rheaume, and Nicole Denny. Fay is also survived by two sisters, Edna Felmet and Inez Regan, both of Albany, Ga., and several nieces and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by her “Angel” and caretaker, Zee.

Arrangements are being made by Thomas L. Neilan and Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, where a celebration of Fay’s life will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
