CITIZENS BANK SECURES SPACE ON BANK STREET IN NEW LONDON

New London — Citizens Bank has signed a lease for space in a building at Columbus Corner and has secured city approval that would allow it to open a bank branch there.

Citizens Bank, which operates a branch at 63 Eugene O’Neill Drive, signed a lease in early November for a 2,182-squarefoot space on the ground level of 470 Bank St. Susan Howard at US Properties represente­d the property owner, and Logan Meyer of Cushman & Wakefield represente­d Citizens Bank.

Jasmine Thai Restaurant and Porter and Chester Institute both occupy space in the building, which is at the corner of Bank and Howard streets.

The city’s Office of Developmen­t and Planning has approved Citizens Bank’s request to complete renovation­s that include a new HVAC system, lighting and the addition of a drive-up ATM and night deposit box outside.

A representa­tive from Citizens Bank did not return requests for comment. at the Stonington Free Library to discuss proposed improvemen­ts to the Town Dock playground site next spring.

Stonington Human Services staff will be on hand to answer questions from residents and provide pictures and specificat­ions for play sets, which include options for children aged 2-5 and 5-12.

In September, the town closed the 16-year-old playscape at the playground because some of its wooden support footings were rotting.
