New London — Margaret J. (Jerome) Oliver, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Emerson Hospital in Concord after a period of declining health.

She was born in New London on Aug. 31, 1928, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Rema (Ungerer) Jerome.

She held an associate’s degree from Mitchell College in New London.

Margaret was a resident of Westford for the past 10 years and was formerly of Acton, where she lived for 50 years. She loved to sing and was one of the founding members of the Acton Community Chorus, where she was a member for 30 years. Music and singing were her passion, and she took voice lessons well into her 80s. She also greatly enjoyed a game of Scrabble or Bingo.

She loved children and animals and was especially fond of horses. She donated regularly to several animal charities. In her younger years, Margaret was a member of the Girl Scouts and was proud to see her granddaugh­ters become members later in life.

She is survived by her three children, Kris Oliver and his wife, Jane, of Sutton, Mass., Donald Oliver and his wife, Sandra Olsen, of Middletown, and Laurie Oliver and her husband, George Minor, of Westford; Margaret was a beloved Nana to eight grandchild­ren, Alethea Cono and her husband, Jason, Rebecca Randolph and her husband, Tom, Ashley Oliver-Olsen and his wife, Tanya, Daniel Oliver, Aaron Olsen, Caitlin Oliver-Olsen, Rose Oliver-Pestana and Emma Oliver-Minor; and three great-grandchild­ren, Siena, Ellie, and Mikayla, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jack, Richard, George and William Jerome.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Margaret’s life at the J.A. Healy Sons Funeral Home, 57 N. Main St., Westford, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7. Her funeral service will take place on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Westford, 10 Church St., Westford. (Friends are asked to please meet at Church.) Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery off Forge Village Road in Westford following the service.
