Old Lyme — Beatrice (“Bea”) Minson, 98, of Old Lyme, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018 in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Born Sept. 24, 1920 in New Haven, she was the youngest of four children of the late Werner Eichmann and the late Bertha Pieper Eichmann. Bea graduated from Meredith College in North Carolina in 1941 with a dual bachelor’s degree in Art and French and received her teaching certificat­e from the University of North Carolina. She taught second grade in the Old Lyme and East Lyme schools. She was a member of both the First Congregati­onal Church of Old Lyme and the South Lyme Union Chapel.

Bea loved people and engaged everyone she met with her friendly and bubbly personalit­y. She was active in her community and participat­ed in numerous charitable pursuits. She enjoyed many interests including flower gardening, Tole painting, having fun at the senior center, and music in many forms. Most of all Bea deeply loved all members of her family, both near and far. She will be greatly missed by everyone.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan McCarthy (Thomas) of Arnold, Md.; Theresa Ingham (James) of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; one granddaugh­ter, Maryann Kearns (Randy) and three grandsons, Tom McCarthy (Beverly), Steve McCarthy (Staci), and Jeff Ingham (Roxanne). She has seven great-grandchild­ren. She also was preceded in death by her siblings and her husband Jack Towell and second husband, Frederick Minson.

A Memorial Service is being planned for January in Old Lyme. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Lyme Union Chapel, P.O. Box 227 South Lyme, CT 06376.
