Montville — Margaret G. Leary, 73, of Uncasville and Palm Harbor, Fla., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018.

She was born on March 4, 1945, in Hastings, Neb., to the late Albert and Harriette (Noyes) Bishop.

Margaret grew up in White Bear Lake, Minn., where she graduated from high school. She went on to attend the University of Minnesota and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English from Central Connecticu­t State University. She retired from the state of Connecticu­t as a supervisor of support services after 26 years. Margaret was a voracious reader who also enjoyed traveling the world, going to the gym, the beach, lighthouse­s and photograph­y. She was a recently published author of the romantic suspense novel “Dead Roses.”

Margaret was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r, sister and friend to many. She leaves behind her husband, Philip Leary of Uncasville; her son, Nicholas Tamburrino and his wife, Robin, of Griswold; her cherished grandchild­ren, Alexandra and Dominic Tamburrino; a sister, Mary Zastrow and her husband, Tim, of Minnesota; a sister, Carol Nelson and her husband, Bob, of Arizona; along with several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind dear friends, Sam Mello of Moosup, Paula Gendreau of Montville and Anita Pothier of Colchester.

She is predecease­d by a sister, Alberta Bishop.

After fighting pancreatic cancer for three years she was known as the “patient that defies logic.” The family wishes to extend special gratitude to Dr. Jason Haldas and the staff at the Smilow Cancer Center in Waterford.

Family and friends may visit from 4 until 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at which time there will be a celebratio­n of Margaret’s life at Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, 53 Norwich New London Tpke., Uncasville.
