Witkowski scores 29, Coast Guard men launch their comeback at just the right time

Worcester, Mass. — Packy Witkowski had 29 points, seven rebounds and five assists as Coast Guard Academy's men's basketball team erased a seven-point deficit with 41 seconds left in regulation and beat Clark in overtime Wednesday 105-99. It was Coast Guard's first New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference win of the season.

Clark led 88-81 when Witkowski made back-to-back 3-pointers to cut the Bears' lead to 88-87 with 32 seconds left.

Alex Nazaire made two free throws for Clark. The Bears' Noah Baldez countered with a jumper.

Tyler Davern made the second of two free throws for the Cougars. Nolan Benson (20 points) tied it at 91 with a layup with 5 seconds remaining in regulation.

Baldez (21 points, eight assists and five rebounds) scored the first three points in overtime to put the Bears (10-5, 1-4) ahead to stay.

Davern had 27 points and eight rebounds for the Cougars (5-11, 1-4).

H.S. wrestling

• Ledyard beat New London 5424, with Jacob Foster (126 pounds), Ty Miller (132), Mason Barnett (145), Caden Foote (160) and Adam Crawford (170) all winning by pin. Cole Dirico (138) won by technical fall for the Colonels (11-5) and Brayden Grim (152) won a major decision. Naaji Powell-Keyton (120), Jacob Commander (182), Teshua Williams (195) and Jadian Mackenzie (220) had pins for New London (2-3).

• Aaron Muncaster (106), Quinn Bond (126), Brandon Pedersen (145), Zak Navarrette (160), Zach Doiron (195) and Chris Jaskiewicz (220) all won by pin for Montville in its 51-12 win over Norwich Free Academy.
