Catala would fight against tax increases

The special election is about two weeks away. I am running because the 39th District needs a voice. I have raised money from hard-working people and have put in my own funds as this is important. I don't want to tax people out of Connecticut.

Currently we receive a large amount of funds from the lottery and casinos. We pay a state income tax, sales tax, property tax, and storm water tax. After we pay all these taxes we are left with money to pay our bills and put food on the table for our families.

I was raised by a single mother who worked three jobs to make ends meet. Sometimes those ends didn't meet, but we never complained. This made me stronger and the person I am today. I knew what it was like to struggle.

The time is now to better manage the state budget. Cut fluff positions, reorganize the legislature. We don't need 151 state representatives for a small state. The unions have given back. It's time for the legislature to give back. I don't support taxing groceries and I am against tolls. The legislature must find ways to redistribute current funds and to stop taxing the citizens.
