Sun waive Cannon

Mohegan — The Connecticu­t Sun waived forward Emma Cannon on Monday.

Signed by the Sun as a free agent on April 11, Cannon appeared in all three Sun preseason games. She had three points and one assist. Cannon spent the 2017 WNBA season with the Phoenix Mercury, appearing in all 34 games. She averaged 4.4 points while pulling down 3.6 rebounds per game.

The move gets the roster down to 13 and the team has until Thursday to get down to the league-mandated 12 players.

The Sun open their 2019 season against the Washington Mystics on Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena at 7:30 p.m.

Mystic Half Marathon

• Tyler Lyon of West Hartford won the Mystic Half Marathon on Sunday, completing the 13-mile course in 1:12.35. Laura Cummings of Bay Shore, N.Y., was the top women's finisher, coming in fifth with a time of 1:19.29. Also finishing in the top 10 were Tristan Learoyd of Great Britain (1:16.24), Daniel Mortimer of Worcester, Mass. (1:16.47), Brandon Mehlinger of Jewett City (1:17.36), Hayley Collins of Tolland (1:20.27), James Head of West Hartford (1:21.51), Samuel Marshall of New Haven (1:22.28), Jim Zoldy of Goshen (1:23.05) and Frank Sternberg of Stonington (1:23.10). Rebecca Snelson of New London finished 11th in 1:23.28.

The 10K race was won by Marc LeBlanc of Ashland, Mass., who finished in 34:48. Tia Stone of Searcy, Ark., was the top women's finisher, coming in fifth with a time of 38:47. Also finishing in the top 10 were Michael Vesci of Newington (36:01), Brishen Dearborn of Wethersfie­ld (37:57), Dominic Abramo of South Glastonbur­y (38:35), Aidan Gallagher of Preston (39:17), Justin Madry of Waterford (39:34), Brendan O'Rourke of Middletown (41:04), Lauren Scahill of Gales Ferry (41:20) and John Maloney of Groton (41:35).

College honors

• Jamie Navoni of Connecticu­t College was named to the Intercolle­giate Women's Lacrosse Associatio­n (IWLCA) All-Berkshire Region first team for the second straight year. The senior midfielder had 56 points on 47 goals and nine assists to go along with winning 89 draw controls, picking up 30 ground balls, and causing 20 turnovers.

• UConn placed six players on the American Athletic Conference all-league team. Juniors Mason Feole (starting pitcher), Anthony Prato (shortstop) and Jake Wallace (relief pitcher) were first-team picks and making the second team were senior second baseman Michael Woodworth, senior outfielder John Toppa and sophomore designated hitter Christian Fedko.
