Mohegan — The New England Black Wolves signed team captain Brett Manney to a one-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.

A 6-foot-3 defender, Manney has been a mainstay in the Black Wolves lineup since the team relocated to New England prior to the 2015 season. Last season, he had eight points on two goals and six assists while also scooping up 51 loose balls and causing 13 turnovers.

In 169 career games over 11 seasons, Manney has 59 points on 13 goals and 46 assists. He was named captain prior to the 2018-19 season after serving as an assistant captain for the previous three seasons.

“I'm excited for another year with the Black Wolves,” Manney said. “I am a fan of everything and everyone at Mohegan Sun and all they do for me and my teammates. I want to finish what I started here and continue to build the culture of what it means to be a Black Wolf.”
