NORWICH WOMAN FACES LARCENY CHARGE IN ALLEGED PURSE THEFT

Norwich — A city woman was arrested on larceny and trespassin­g charges in connection with a reported theft of two purses from the Stop & Shop employee locker room, police said.

Catherine P. McCarthy, 25, of 66 Lambert Drive was charged at 12:30 p.m. Thursday with fifth-degree larceny and second-degree criminal trespass. Bond and court informatio­n were not available Tuesday.

Police said they were called to the Norwichtow­n Commons Stop & Shop supermarke­t on July 18 by two female employees who reported their purses and items were stolen from their employee lockers a short time earlier.

The store manager met with the responding officer in the store parking lot and told the officer that one of the female victims was following a person who allegedly was carrying her purse. The officer stopped McCarthy and told her he believed she had stolen the purse she had draped across her body. Police said McCarthy told the officer her mother had given her the purse.

McCarthy allegedly gave the officer permission to search the purse, and he said he found credit cards and other items belonging to the two employees. McCarthy also allegedly was wearing one of the employee’s sunglasses on her head.

Kiomary Rodriguez-Francisqui­ni, 28, of 53 Hawthorne Drive was charged Monday with criminal violation of a protective order.

Mario Vargas, 21, of 117 Willetts Ave. was charged Monday with interferin­g with an officer.

Raphael Lopez II, 40, of Willimanti­c was charged Sunday with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and possession of narcotics.

John Gillis, age unavailabl­e, of 68 Raymond St. was charged Sunday with breach of peace.

Richard W. Entwistle, 29, of Westerly was charged Tuesday in Stonington with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.

Waterford

Mya Radicioni, 18, of 1 Green Hills Road, Quaker Hill, was charged Monday with third-degree assault, risk of injury to a child and third-degree criminal mischief.
