Norwich man arrested for dragging man alongside car while driving
Norwich — Norwich Free Academy on Tuesday released information and the application for free and reduced-price meals through the Child Nutrition Program for the 2019-20 school year.
Interested families are asked to complete all forms and have students submit applications to their House Office no later than Sept. 13.
Because NFA’s program does not provide universal free lunch to all students, families must apply to receive these benefits. Families receiving federal Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program benefits or other state benefits will be certified directly and will not need to apply.
The Child Nutrition Program application for free and reduced-price meals can be found on the NFA website at bit.ly/ NFAfood19. Application forms in multiple languages are available at bit.ly/fnsmeals.
Griswold — A Norwich man was arrested after allegedly dragging a man alongside his vehicle while driving through a Jewett City property on Tuesday, state police Trooper Matthew Rei said.
Andrew Kendzierski, 60, of 19 Park St., Apt. 1, was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace. His bond was set at $25,000 for the first-degree assault charge, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 15.
Rei said the first-degree assault charge comes from the involvement of a vehicle and the victim’s beliefs of the accused’s intentions.
He said that about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, a witness whom the victim knew called in the disturbance involving the two men, who also knew each other. The victim had minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital.
