Sun begin four-game road trip today at Liberty

-

The Connecticut Sun begin a difficult four-game road trip on Sunday when they face the New York Liberty in a WNBA game at the Westchester County Center (3 p.m., Ch. 20, YES).

The Sun (15-6) have won six straight, their latest a 68-62 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday at Mohegan Sun Arena. They have the WNBA's best record, a half-game better than Washington (146) and one-game better than Las Vegas (14-7).

In the win over Phoenix, Courtney Williams scored 12 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter help Connecticut finally take charge, while center Jonquel Jones had 15 points and 14 rebounds, her 11th double-double of the season.

"You want to think that you can come in again and score 100 points," Sun point guard Jasmine Thomas said. "That's what you try to do. But realistically, you know that that second game in three days is going to be pretty tough.

"It's going to be a mental game, you're going to have to fight through fatigue. Both teams were showing that a little bit and I mean just having everybody stick together and fight through until the end, that's how you close those games out."

The Sun will certainly be challenged physically and mentally during this road trip. Following Sunday's game at the Liberty (8-12), Connecticut begins a cross-country jaunt that brings them to Minnesota (Friday), Las Vegas (Sunday, Aug. 11) and Phoenix (Wednesday, Aug. 14), before returning home on Friday, Aug. 16, against the Seattle Storm.
