Old Lyme — June Kensel Sopneski, 84, of Old Lyme, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2019. She was the beloved wife of Edward Sopneski, and devoted mother of her late son Kenny.

She is survived by sons, Edward and wife Dana, and John and wife Gina; her brother Bob Kensel; and sister Susie Smith and husband Walter. Also, she is survived by her four grandchild­ren, Ryan, Julianna, Steven and Leah. She is predecease­d by her brother Walter Kensel.

June was a graduate of Valley Regional High School. She was an avid New York Mets fan as well as a food critic who was well-loved for her raspberry jam and apple pies. She also spent hours tending to her many flower beds. Married for 58 years, June’s world revolved around her husband Ed, her two sons and four beloved grandchild­ren.

June’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Deep River Congregati­onal Church, 1 Church St., Deep River. Interment will follow in the Fountain Hill Cemetery, Deep River. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

North Stonington — Donald William Pattison, 82, of North Stonington, died peacefully Friday, Oct. 11, 2019. He was born June 18, 1937, in Weymouth, Mass., to Frank and Marion Pattison. He is predecease­d by his wife, Winifred E. Pattison.

He worked for over 30 years as a science teacher at Fitch Junior High School and Robert E. Fitch High School. After retirement, he worked at the Mystic Aquarium. He was a member of the Masons for 60 years and a member of the Scottish R.I. Festival. Don was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, and a member of the Old Mystic United Methodist Church for nearly 50 years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children: Donalynn Bogue and her husband Marshall, Winifred Wong and her husband Ronald, Nancy Mahran and her husband Ahmed, Gail Filippetti and her husband Paul, William Burton and Richard Burton and his wife Elaine; as well as 10 grandchild­ren.

Don’s family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., historic downtown Mystic. A Masonic ceremony will be presented during calling hours. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at the Old Mystic United Methodist Church, 44 Main St., Old Mystic. Burial will follow in the Stonington Cemetery, Route 1, Stonington.

Ledyard — Claire R. Morosini, 78, of Ledyard, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 10, 2019, at Fairview in Groton.

She was born in New London March 10, 1941, the daughter of John and Claire Roy Orkney. Claire was married to Raymond M. Morosini Oct. 31, 1959, in Groton. Raymond passed away March 6, 1987.

Claire graduated from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School in the Class of 1959. She worked for many years as the night auditor at the Navy Lodge in Groton.

Claire is survived by three daughters, Donna Harrington of Ledyard, Debra Dousis of East Lyme and Diane Moran of Ledyard; a brother, Roy J. Orkney of Evans, Ga.; her sisters, Joan Orkney of Groton and Jean Young of Ashford; and her grandchild­ren, Kelly Lutomski, Kevin and Kyle Moran and Shawn and Hunter Dousis.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be directed to Ledyard Animal Control, 1 J. Alfred Clark Lane, Ledyard CT 06339.
