Fitch/Stonington/NL edges Waterford in H.S. swimming

Groton — Alyson Lowney (200-yard freestyle, 500 freestyle), Delaney Reck (200 individual medley, 100 backstroke) and Finella Smith (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) each won two individual events to help Fitch/ Stonington/New London beat Waterford 86-84 in a high school swim meet Tuesday.

Reck, Delaney, Sarah Tarinelli and Kylie Heard also won the 400 free relay for the co-op (5-1, 5-1 ECC).

Lily Watson earned victories in the 100 fly and 100 breast, and also contribute­d on the 200 medley and 200 free relay teams for Waterford (3-4, 3-3).

H.S. boys’ soccer

• Jonathan Zavaleta scored two goals and added an assist to power East Lyme past Norwich Free Academy 9-1 in ECC Division I. Evan Fitzgerald scored two goals while Evan Kluge, Sujesh Kurembail, Kurt Mahlke, Finn Power and Cameron McGurer each added one for the Vikings (7-2-1, 4-0-1). The Wildcats fell to 2-6-1, 1-4.

• Tyler Nadeau scored the game's only goal, lifting Norwich Tech past Grasso Tech 1-0. Jared Schrader made four saves to earn the shutout for the Warriors.

H.S. girls’ soccer

• Lydia Tinnerello scored an unassisted goal for Old Lyme in a 1-1 nonconfere­nce tie against NFA. Sam Gray had two saves for Old Lyme (8-1-2). Mackenzie Teper took a feed from Hannah Daniewicz and scored for NFA (4-5-2), and Caitlin Daley had 10 saves.

• Margaret Dunne scored twice and Meredith Healy added a goal for East Lyme in a 3-1 win Monday over Ledyard. Ledyard (6-2-1) led 1-0 on a goal by Lexi LaPerle, but East Lyme tied the game on a first-half goal by Healy and took the lead early in the second half. East Lyme is 7-3-2.

H.S. field hockey

• Sarah Healy and Caroline Real scored goals for East Lyme in a 2-1 victory over Woodstock Academy in the ECC. Kristen Healy was credited with both assists for the Vikings (8-2-1, 7-0-1).

H.S. volleyball

• Sophie Dubreuil had 18 kills and 15 digs and Mya Delesderni­er finished with 20 kills and 12 digs in East Lyme's 24-26, 25-16, 27-25, 34-32 victory over NFA in an ECC Division I matchup. Ellie Meredith had 41 assists for East Lyme (7-5, 3-1) and Brooklyn Geida 10 digs. NFA is 4-8, 0-5.

• New London swept Grasso Tech 3-0 in a nonconfere­nce match. Game scores were 258, 25-11 and 25-11. Cheryann Lubin had 10 points for New London (5-6) and Chrismaela Bouget had six points. Nicole Castillo had five assists and five service points for Grasso.

• Isabel Dean-Frazier had 10 assists and teammate Taylor Thompson recorded five digs, four blocks and four kills in Old Lyme's 3-0 loss to Valley Regional (25-12, 26-24, 25-18). Old Lyme is 2-12, 0-12 in the Shoreline Conference.

Women’s soccer

• Coast Guard Academy suffered its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference loss of the season, dropping a 1-0 decision to Smith College. Hannah Kelsey scored the game-winning goal about 20 minutes into the game. Goalie Sarah Schollenbe­rger had four saves for Coast Guard (6-7, 4-1).

Men’s soccer

• Steve Yeonas scored at the 31:20 mark to give Connecticu­t College an early lead but Babson scored twice in the second half to claim a 2-1 nonconfere­nce victory. The Camels fell to 7-2-2 overall.

College field hockey

• Sophie Pollinger scored three goals in Conn College's 5-4 loss to WPI in nonconfere­nce action. Meghan Gazard also scored for the Camels (29), who've lost five straight.

College honors

• Mitchell College freshman Olivia DeLoach was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for women's volleyball. DeLoach averaged a team-high 2.63 kills and 4.75 digs per set in a pair of nonconfere­nce wins last week. She finished with season highs of 15 kills and 27 digs in a five-set victory over Salem State University and also added three aces. Earlier in the week she recorded six kills and 11 digs as Mitchell (9-9) defeated Albertus Magnus College for the second time this season. DeLoach is the first Mitchell player to earn weekly conference honors since 2012.
