No. 13 Tufts rallies late to earn soccer draw with Conn College women

Kat Norton scores 25th career goal for Camels in NESCAC showdown

Medford, Mass. — Kat Norton scored her 25th career goal as Connecticu­t College played No. 13 Tufts to a 2-2 double overtime draw in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women's soccer match Saturday.

Norton is now second all-time in career goals for the Camels (9-3-1, 4-3-1).

Tori Kretzmer also scored for Conn, which led until Lily Sykes tied it for Tufts (10-1-2, 6-1-1) with just 1:06 left in regulation.

Katy Pelletier stopped five shots in goal for Conn College, which was outshot 16-10. In other games: • No. 18 MIT cruised to a 5-1 win over Coast Guard Academy in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. The Engineers are 12-1-3, 6-0. Kat Retz, on an assist from Anna Carleton, scored in the 76th minute for the Bears (5-9-1, 4-3). Goalie Sarah Schollenbe­rger made seven saves for Coast Guard.

Kayla Pascal had a goal and an assist as Elms rolled to a 4-0 victory over Mitchell College in the New England Collegiate Conference. Yordi Slover made three saves in goal for the Mariners ((4-10, 0-4), who were outshot 15-2.

Men's soccer

• No. 12 Tufts outlasted No. 11 Conn College 2-0 in the NESCAC. Zach Lane and Mati Cano scored first-half goals for the Jumbos (9-2-2), while goalie AJ Marcucci made six saves for the Camels (7-3-2, 4-2-2), who were outshot 14-9.

• Jackson Conroy scored two goals in the second half as WPI defeated Coast Guard 3-0 in the NEWMAC. Dakota Harich made one save for the Bears (7-7, 1-4), who were outshot 129.

• Mitchell won its first NECC game of the season with a 4-3 victory over Elms in Chicopee, Mass. Julian Cortez scored two goals for the Mariners (2-9-1, 1-2) while Christian Urena and Carl Wilson each scored one.

Field hockey

• No. 6 Tufts rolled to an 8-0 win over Conn College in the NESCAC. Gillian Roeca scored three goals for the Jumbos (11-2, 7-1). Conn is 2-10, 0-8.

Men's cross country

Conn College's Danny Aschale finished second in a photo finish during the Conn College Invite at Harkness State Park in Waterford. Aschale finished the 8k course in 24:17.4, edging David Fassbender of Wisconsin-Whitewater, who placed third in 24:17.5. Williams College scored 47 points to run away with the team title behind individual winner Aidan Ryan (23:56). Conn was 11th (320) and Jeffrey Love was 14th in 24:59.

• Coast Guard's Jacob McGlumphy placed 58th at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle in New Jersey as the Bears placed 19th and beat archrival Merchant Marine (21st) 2530 head-to-head to win a point in the Superinten­dents' Trophy race. Coast Guard leads the race for the Superinten­dents' Trophy, contested in each sport, 4-0 this academic year. Greg Costello (26:35), Joseph Roth (23:56.6), Matthew Doyle (26.49.4) and Adam Vanderen (27:06.6) were the other top finishers for the Bears.

Women's cross country

• Laurel Felt was the top Coast Guard finisher as she placed seventh leading Coast Guard to a sixth-place finish at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle in New Jersey. The Bears also picked up a point in the battle for the Superinten­dents' Trophy against Merchant Marine, beating the Mariners 23-32 head-to-head. Felt had a time of 21:11.90. Kirsten Carson was 27th (22:26.72), Olivia Suski was 53rd (23:00.01), Emma Sims placed 66th (23:12.96) and Savannah Olyniec was 89th (23:48.78).
