Spracklin (36) points gives Lions the victory

North Stonington — Ian Spracklin scored 36 points to lead the Wheeler High School boys' basketball team to a 61-55 win Thursday over Putnam in an Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division IV game.

Bowen Baker had 11 points, five assists and five steals for Wheeler (8-5, 2-3), which qualified for the state tournament with the win. In other games: • Bernard Hawkins scored 18 points and had four steals as Montville beat Tourtellot­te 75-52 in an ECC Division IV game. Ethan McKinney and Eddie Reyes-Suarez scored 14 points each for Montville (10-2, 6-1) and Reyes-Suarez had five rebounds and nine assists.

• Jabari Jones had 28 points and 12 rebounds in Ledyard's 77-63 victory over Stonington in an ECC Division II game. Daryl McGraw added 11 rebounds and four blocks and Jaiden Bickham 11 rebounds and 10 assists for Ledyard (7-6, 3-3). Stonington is 7-7, 2-3.

• Grasso Tech lost to Achievemen­t First 73-39. Donnell Brown scored 17 points for Grasso (4-9).

H.S. girls’ basketball

• East Hampton improved to 12-1 with a 4919 win over Old Lyme in a Shoreline Conference game. Emily DeRoehn led Old Lyme (7-5) with eight points.

Women’s basketball

• Abby Stone of Old Lyme scored 32 points, had 10 rebounds and seven assists as Avery Point beat Bristol Community College 103-90. Rebekah Sanders of Quaker Hill had 23 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks, Ashley Burke scored 26 and Julitza Delgado had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Pointers (11-7).

Men’s basketball

• Garrett Drummond scored 21 of his career-high 33 points in the second half and added six rebounds and four assists as Coast Guard overcame a 15-point halftime deficit and beat Wheaton on Wednesday night, 87-84, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference game. Packy Witkowski scored 17, J.T. Cox 15 and Justin Kane 10 for Coast Guard (7-10, 2-5). Tyler Perez added a career-high 12 rebounds.

• Garrett Crandell scored a game-high 21 for league-leading Eastern Nazarene as it downed Mitchell 84-75 in a New England Collegiate Conference game on Wednesday night. The Lions are 11-8, 6-0. Hasani Williams had 18 points, six rebounds and three steals for Mitchell (7-12, 4-2) and Matt Finke had a team-high 14 points and four assists. New London's Jalen Benson added 12 points and nine rebounds.

H.S. hockey

• Newington beat the Eastern Connecticu­t Eagles on Wednesday night, 1-0. Rylin Fowler had 23 saves for the Eagles (5-5).
