ONLINE FEEDBACK

-

Nearby residents were not happy last week to read the story “Old Mystic bridge closure may be permanent,” stating Stonington was no longer interested in funding a border bridge, damaged in flooding a decade ago, after waiting years for neighboring Groton to provide its share.

“Of all the new or in-progress projects that are going on in Stonington right now that are filling the coffers of the tax rolls and Stonington has the gall to say all their money is tied up ‘due to other capital project needs.’ This is the best little corner of Stonington you got so wake up and partner with Groton and fund the bridge.” — Chuck Thompson

“If you care to get involved in this issue please attend the April 9th Board of Finance meeting and make your voice heard!” — Laura Graham

“Sorry to learn this. My mom grew up on that short street and played in the brook. We loved driving on that lovely road and cringe to see how ugly it has been these last ten years.” — Lynn Schroder

“When (Old Mystic Fire) Chief Ken Richards Jr. — decades proven to always professionally tend to public safety needs that save lives and protect properties — states that a project is a necessity, that recommendation had best be followed. A demand from the public on April 9 to abide by the Chief's expert advice is simply common sense.” — Jim Spellman

“Yet somehow and un-needed ugly boathouse that only a few will ever use is front and center for money expenditures.”

— Linda McCoy

“It seems a bit odd that nowhere in this discussion did it appear that the towns of Groton and Stonington ever actually thought to talk to each other about coordinating the funding of this project. Rather it's just a ‘we did but they didn't, so now they did but we won't.’ It appears quite sad.” — Robert Applegate
