(Editor's note: The Day will be publishing a profile of a spring athlete for each day the high school athletic season is suspended.) School: Bacon Academy Class: Senior Sport: Girls' lacrosse Position: Midfield College choice: Southern Connecticut State Chosen major: Studio art with a concentration in graphic design and minor in marketing Favorite sport besides lacrosse: Football, the Patriots have been on every football Sunday in my household since I can remember. Athlete you grew up admiring: Mia Hamm Checking in with Hannah: "To my lacrosse team and fellow seniors — I love you all. Never take a practice or game for granted because you never know the last time you're going to step onto the field. Also thanks to coach Chris (Faulkner) and coach Laudy (Rosado) for all the time they put into our team."

What you need to know about Hannah: Holmes played soccer throughout her youth as well as her freshman and sophomore seasons at Bacon Academy when she decided to play lacrosse year-round. "As a kid, my travel soccer team was always a close-knit group and then a good amount of us started to play lacrosse, too," Holmes said. "I was always excited to get better and get to play with all of my friends, especially during all the youth tournaments." She plays for LaxPlus, a club team, during the winter and summer and she credited it with helping her get recruited for college. She will continue to play the sport at Southern Connecticut. She has loved art her entire life and has taken "basically every art class given at Bacon, including AP." Her favorite class at Bacon, however, has been preschool. "The class is run by my favorite teacher, Mrs. Dubois. Local preschool-aged kids come in for half of the day and we have to create our own lesson plans to teach them," she said. "You basically get to spend a whole class period with little kids. It's the best!" She is very grateful to her family and friends for the person she is, as well as growing up in Colchester. "I owe everything on and off the field to my family and friends," she said. "Living in a smaller town my whole life has allowed me to grow close to lots of my friends. I have a great group of people who support everything I do and am really sad I won't be able to finish my senior year off with them. My parents have always been my biggest fans and helped me get to where I am today. I couldn't thank my mom and dad enough."
