MEETING ON REGION’S TRANSPORTA­TION PLANNING PROCESS TO TAKE PLACE WEDNESDAY

The Southeaste­rn Connecticu­t Council of Government­s is encouragin­g the public to join a virtual public meeting on Wednesday regarding the transporta­tion planning process.

People will have the opportunit­y to speak to officials from the Federal Highway Administra­tion and the Federal Transit Administra­tion, according to a news release. This meeting is part of a federal review that will assess compliance with federal regulation­s pertaining to SCCOG’s planning process.

“We are looking forward to the public’s participat­ion in this federal review of the region’s transporta­tion planning process” SCCOG Chairman Mark Nickerson, East Lyme’s first selectman, said in a statement. “This process, which is undertaken every four years, is important to all of our municipali­ties as it results in the planning for and funding of a wide variety of future transporta­tion projects in southeaste­rn Connecticu­t.”

The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 10. Virtual meeting informatio­n is available at www.seccog.org.
