Debbis, Meyer first at Stafford

Stafford Springs — A pair of local drivers won races for the second straight week at Stafford Speedway on Friday night.

Andrew Durand (Limited Late Model) were also repeat winners while Tyler Leary outlasted Ryan Fearn in the Late Model 50-lap feature.

Debbis took the lead from Joey Ferrigno and Josh Carey following a lap 14 restart and wound up beating Brian Sullivan to the checkered flag for his fourth win of the season. Colchester's Amanda West finished sixth.

Meyer started the Street Stock feature in the sixth position and immediatel­y moved up to second. He took the lead on lap 3 and help off Frank L'Etoile for the win.

District 10 baseball (10-12)

• Aidan Cochrane had three hits and was the winning pitcher as East Lyme beat Waterford 10-3 on Friday. Cochrane struck out eight batters and reliever Garrison Biggs struck out seven. Cameron Gronholm homered for East Lyme and Waterford pitcher Matthew Shampine struck out three.

• Eddie Torres had three hits, including a home run, as Montville beat Mystic 9-0 on Friday. Desmond Powers, Jack Treat, Andrew McElwee and Torres combined for the shutout. PJ Evans had two hits and drove in two runs for Montville. Montville beat East Lyme 3-0 on Wednesday. McElwee, Luke Chapman and Torres combined for the shutout. Treat had two hits and drove in two runs and Luis Anaya had two hits for Montville.

District 10 baseball (9-11)

• Waterford had 12 hits and beat Mystic 13-2 on Thursday. Colby Sheehan led the way with three hits, three runs scored and three RBI. Jacob Turner, Brooks Lane and Chase Nolda had two hits each while Carson Gallerani and JT Sheppard each had a hit and scored twice for Waterford. Mystic's Matteo Panciera had a two-run double and teammate Holden Salemma made a strong defensive play in right field.

• Chase Malbaurn and Izaiah Yard combined to pitch a two-hitter as Montville beat East Lyme 10-0 on Thursday. Cameron Payne was 3-for-4 with a double and Zeke Johnson singled and doubled for Montville.
