MYSTIC CHAMBER ANNOUNCES CHANGES

Mystic — The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce has announced that its is moving its Welcome Center, which is now on Greenmanville Avenue (Route 27) across from Mystic Seaport Museum, to the second floor of 22 E. Main St. in the downtown.

The new office is slated to open in February and “allow the Chamber to allocate more funds to ensure Member success,” according to the chamber’s announcement. “HJ Smith Plumbing has generously offered the Chamber a home where they can restructure, reset and move forward with less of a financial burden.”

The chamber also announced that its executive board will initiate a search for a new president to replace Peggy Roberts, who resigned last month.

At its Jan. 7 annual meeting, held virtually, the chamber focused on the effects of COVID-19 on the organization in 2020 and how it will navigate 2021 and beyond.

Bruce Flax, interim director at the Chamber, said “this is a turning point for the Greater Mystic Chamber. COVID-19 has been an overwhelming challenge to Mystic business and the chamber, but we are confident we will emerge from the crisis stronger.”

He added ‘’the board and chamber staff are prepared to work with our members and community leaders to forge a successful path for the upcoming year, and for years to come.”

The chamber said it has sent a letter to its members recounting how it has served the business community for over 80 years.

New board members are Sheri Cote (SECTER), Megan Smith (Explore Shoreline CT), Bonnie Pollard-Johnson (Academy Point), Alissa Young (Atlantic Broadband) and Jeff Anderson (Kelly’s Pace).
