LEDYARD MAN FACES DRUG CHARGES TIED TO GIRL’S OVERDOSE

-

Ledyard — Police charged a 27-year-old local man Friday with giving prescription narcotics to a 17-year-old girl who overdosed and required CPR and Narcan to restore her breathing.

Malik Nunn, of 56 Coachman Pike, who was on parole for armed robbery at the time of the incident, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and illegal distribution of prescription medication in connection with the Feb. 27, 2020, incident at a home on Colonel Ledyard Highway.

After police obtained a warrant for his arrest, police said Nunn turned himself into police Friday and was remanded to the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center.

According to police, on Feb. 27, 2020, a 17-year-old girl was found unresponsive on the walkway of her home. Medical personnel determined she had overdosed and administered Narcan while performing CPR. The girl began breathing on her own and was able to communicate with paramedics. She was then transported to L + M Hospital for treatment.

Police said that through an extensive investigation, it found that Nunn provided the girl with prescription narcotics which she consumed in his car and then passed out. Nunn drove the unresponsive girl back to her house and got assistance getting her out of the car and onto the walkway outside of the house. Police said Nunn told a witness that she took “something” but he couldn’t afford to get in trouble. He left the house before police arrived.

According to judicial department records, Nunn was on parole for a 2014 robbery conviction at the time of the overdose incident.

Two weeks before that robbery, Nunn had been released from prison after being convicted of robbing a taxi driver.

Last March, Ledyard police say Nunn led them on a foot chase after they found cocaine and marijuana in his car. He was convicted of possession of a controlled substance and interfering with a police officer and sentenced to 90 days in prison.
