Walter W. Lamb

-

Gales Ferry — Walter William Lamb, 92, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Jan. 25, 2021, at his home. He was born Nov. 12, 1928, in Aud, Mo., the son of James Earl Lamb and Hada (Mantle)

Lamb. He grew up living the farm life working hard along with his 11 siblings. Walter left home and joined the U.S. Navy, eventually settling in Connecticut. He was married to Jean (Rolfe) Lamb on July 3, 1953, at St. Joseph Church in New London. He was a devout Catholic and a man of great faith. He was a generous donor to many charities, and he lived his life in such a way that he was respected by many.

Walter was a very hard worker and was skilled in many different trades. He started his own business, Lamb’s Mobile Home Service, repairing furnaces, plumbing and fixing electrical issues. He could fix just about anything. He also enjoyed hauling and setting up mobile homes by himself. Eventually, he bought his own trailer park, Lamb’s Mobile Home Park in Uncasville. Owning the park was his pride and joy. He retired in his 70s although he always found some project to do because it made him happy to work. He said that working was his “hobby.” In his 80s he purchased his home in Gales Ferry and built a stone wall by hand that is about 140 feet long. He was extremely proud of this accomplishment. Walter set a great example for his family because he was honest, hardworking, faithful and steadfast in his beliefs. He never wavered from his trust in God.

Walter will be missed by his seven children, Walter W. Lamb II and his wife, Veronica (McElroy), Mary L. Timpe and her companion Paul Augustine, James L. Lamb and his wife, Cindy (Ladd), Ronald A. Lamb and his wife, Kathy (Jakubowski), Ruth A. Gadbois and her husband, John, Kathryn E. Jakubowski and her husband, James, and Jean V. St. Denis and her husband, John.
