Jeanne Powers
Groton — Jeanne B. Powers, 88, of Groton passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Feb. 10, 2021. She was born March
20, 1932, in Boston, Mass., to Lorraine (Boudreau) Marchand and William J. Marchand. Jeanne was married to the late Richard E. Powers, who passed away Aug. 17, 2000.
Jeanne is survived by her loving children, Kathleen Powers of Groton, Richard E. Powers Jr. of Woodbine,
Md. (Lisa), Michelle Powers of Bethel and Jacqueline Powers of Stamford; and her sister Yvonne McAndless.
She is also survived by her much beloved grandchildren, Matthew Knickerbocker (Brittany), Sara Hill (Joshua), Melissa Parkins (Christopher) and Kristen Powers; as well as two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and William. Besides her husband, Richard, she is predeceased by three sisters and one brother.
Jeanne volunteered throughout her lifetime for children’s charities including, most recently, the Child and Family Agency of Groton.
She was a devoted and loving mother. We will all remember her strong spirit, kind heart, inquisitive mind and quick wit, not to mention her love of greeting the neighborhood from her front porch, an afternoon glass of wine and a winning slot machine.
The family would like to thank the CCU staff at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.
Regretfully, due to the pandemic, there will be a private burial. A Celebration of Life will take place later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeanne’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
