Norwich man, sentenced in connection with 2019 New London shooting, arrested by Norwich police.

Tremaine Dowdell of Norwich, who was recently sentenced to 57 months in prison in connection with a 2019 shooting in New London, was arrested this week by Norwich police for a separate incident in 2019, which allegedly happened the night after the shooting at the H&T Mart in New London.

Police arrested Dowdell,

27, Thursday on charges of unlawful discharge of a firearm, third-degree criminal mischief, first-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny, criminal possession of a pistol or revolver, and first-degree reckless endangerment stemming from a Sept.

15, 2019 incident in Norwich. He was also arrested on several failure to appear charges.

On the night of Sept. 15, police responded to a call about shots being fired on Lake Street and later found .40 caliber shell casings. Police also found that a car on the street had been struck by a bullet, and another projectile was lodged in between two storm windowpanes on a second story window of a home on Lake Street. The other two projectiles were unaccounted for, police said.

Through the course of their investigation, which involved interviews with multiple witnesses, police learned that Dowdell had also allegedly robbed a male subject of his money, approximately $400, and drugs on Lake Street that same night.

Dowdell has been convicted on several state felony charges in recent years, including burglary, larceny and failure to appear in court.

He was due to appear in court for the latest charges on Feb. 18. His bond was set at $150,000.
