Old Lyme — Kathleen Jane “Kathy” Munday passed into the hands of Our Lord on

Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, the thought of Tom Brady winning another championship being the last straw. Kathy was born May 31, 1949, in Woonsocket, R.I., the third child and only girl of nine.

After the family resettled in Old Lyme, she graduated from Old Lyme High School in 1967, and went on to college at Eastern Connecticut State University, where she received a degree in education. After substitute teaching at Center School in Old Lyme, but not finding permanent employment, she started working at EB Publishing, a job she truly loved, partly because everyone in the office had the same birthday, but mostly because she had a great boss in George Rickle. Kathy’s first love, though was teaching children, which she did running a day care in her house and then working for Children’s Discovery in East Lyme until it closed.

Kathy was proceeded in death by her father, Gerard Edward Munday Sr.; her mother, Mildred Helena (Pat) Munday (Walker); also by her twin brothers, David and Denny. Kathy is survived by her two older brothers, Gerard E. (Jay) Munday Jr., and his wife, Jenny, and Kenneth Lee Munday; and by her younger brothers, George Francis, Brian Norman and his wife, Bonnie, Kevin Patrick and Christopher John. Kathy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and friends whom she loved with all her heart.

Calling hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday,
