Michael Pappadopoulas

Waterford — Michael Pappadopoulas, 83, of Waterford, formerly of Mystic, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 17, 2021, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London surrounded by his family. Michael was born in New London Jan. 9, 1938, the son of Stavros and Fevronia Evangelou Pappadopoulas.

He was married to Catherine Hewitt, whom he met at Pfizer, April 30, 1966, in Groton. Catherine passed away May 4, 2017.

Michael retired from Pfizer in Groton where he worked in the shipping and receiving department. Michael proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his son Michael S. Pappadopoulas and his wife, Kim of Preston; his daughter Melinda Bryan and her husband Jeff of Voluntown; two grandchildren, James and Jessica Bryan; niece Beth Abate; and nephew Joseph Bennett. He was predeceased by his brother Angelo Pappadopoulas; and sister-inlaw Susan Bennett.

He enjoyed watching the New York Giants, traveling with his wife of 51 years to many islands and spending time with his family. He was a proud member of the Groton Elks Lodge No. 2163 for 55 years.
