Louise Cogdill
— Louise Marion Essex, Vt. Cogdill, 64, of Essex, Vt., passed away peacefully at home Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at her time of passing.
Louise was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, March 28, 1956, to Katherina Cook (Meyer) of Trier, Germany, and the late Edward Walter Johnson of Milton, Mass. Louise is survived by her beloved mother Katherina Cook of Groton; her daughter Jessica Bandstra (Aaron) of Bellingham, Wash.; daughter Hillary Cogdill of Burlington, Vt.; son Jeremy Cogdill (Melissa) of Niantic; son Kevin Cogdill (Morgan) of Seabrook, N.H.; daughter Mollie Cogdill of Burlington, Vt.; brother Edward Cook of Spokane, Wash.; and sister Tiffany Cook (Marty) of Stonington. Louise was a proud grandmother to Noah (14), Isla (12) and Ezra (8) Bandstra; and William Cogdill (2.5). She is also survived by her niece and nephew, Hayden (14) and Jackson (15) Gothie.
As a military brat, Louise grew up moving often and especially enjoyed her time in Hawaii. Louise graduated from high school in Groton and lived the rest of her life in her beloved New England.
Louise worked for many years as an educator in her local school district and enjoyed supporting her children in their extracurricular activities. Throughout her life, Louise was very active in the Christian Church and treasured her weekly Bible studies with her close friends. She was very outspoken about her love for her country, her support of the Boston Red Sox, her passion for music and her traditional values. She loved spending time with her family. She was a proud logophile.
