— Residents here will vote on four issues during a Saturday, March 13, town meeting that will combine virtual presentations and public comments followed by casting ballots from their cars.

The meeting, designed to limit spread of the coronavirus, is slated to begin online using Webex at 10 a.m. After the issues are discussed by residents, there will be a recess in the meeting. That will give residents an opportunity to drive to Town Hall. When they pull up to the tents that will be set up, they will have to show identification to ensure they are a registered voter. They will then be given a ballot to fill out and place in a drop box as they exit. Voters will not have to leave their vehicles.

A detailed description of how the meeting will be conducted and the items being voted on can be found on the calendar section of the town website at bit.ly/ stownmeet31321.

First Selectwoman Danielle Chesebrough said two cameras will be set up so residents also can watch the voting. Voting will end at noon. At that time, the virtual town meeting will continue with the results of the voting announced.

The items include establishing slow-no wake zones in Stonington Harbor and Sandy Point, a plan to close out debt on town projects, modifications to the town’s street construction ordinance and a loan agreement with Eversource to install energy-efficient equipment at the high and middle schools and the school administration offices.
