Norwich — James F. Foley, 95, formerly of Scotland Road, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at his daughter’s home in Pennsylvan­ia.

He was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Norwich, the son of the late James C. Foley and Hazel (Pervis) Foley.

He married Eleanor Blonshine Sept. 4, 1948, at St. Patrick Cathedral in Norwich. She passed away June 13, 2017.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific theatre. He was a very proud U.S. Marine.

He had worked as a Linotype operator/printer at the New London Day newspaper for 35 years.

He was a communican­t of Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtow­n. He especially loved spending time with his family and working around his home and yard.

James is survived by his son Scott Foley of Tennessee; daughter Marsha Richardson of Pennsylvan­ia; brother David Foley of Florida; grandchild­ren, Jamie Snyder and Nicole Dillard; and by his great-grandchild­ren, Madison and Jackson Snyder and Lincoln Dillard.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predecease­d by his brothers, John and Donald Foley.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2021, at the Church and Allen Funeral Home in Norwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtow­n, meeting directly at the church. Burial will immediatel­y follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich.
