North Stonington — Rosalind “Roz” (Murray) Lewis, 88, passed peacefully at home at the Beriah Lewis Farm, St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2021, most fitting for her strong Irish heritage. She was the wife of the late David Babcock Lewis. Born in Ashaway, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anne Murray.

Rosalind was the co-owner of the Beriah Lewis Farm in North Stonington, a lifetime member of the North Stonington Grange and a communican­t of both Our Lady of Victory Church in Ashaway and St. Michael the Archangel Church in Pawcatuck.

Roz graduated from Westerly High School in 1950, and Central Connecticu­t Teachers College in 1954. She taught in both West Hartford and Stonington prior to dedicating her time and energy to being a wife and mother. She married Dave Lewis in 1956, and began a long-running partnershi­p with the love of her life. She devoted her life to her family and her faith. In later years, she loved traveling the world with her friends.

Rosalind leaves behind her four children: Harry B. “Ted” Lewis (Dawn), Ledyard E. Lewis (Emily) all of North Stonington, Almyra L. Gaylord (Gary) of Rensselaer Falls, N.Y. and Kathleen L. Smith (Jim) of Lebanon; and a daughterin-law, Janet McCaw Lewis. She is also survived by 11 grandchild­ren and three great-grandchild­ren. In addition to her husband, Rosalind was predecease­d by her son, David “Hummer” Lewis in 2005; brother Dr. Edward Murray; and sister Aileen Vandendrie­s.

Visiting hours are omitted. A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11 am. Tuesday, March 23, at St. Michael’s Church, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck. Burial will follow at the Lewis Family Cemetery in North Stonington. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly, is in care of the arrangemen­ts.
