Waterford — Sandra Francis (Bernard) Perry, 75, of Waterford, loving wife of 48 years to Joe Perry, passed away Monday, March 15, 2021.

Sandra was born in New Bedford, Mass., Oct. 9, 1945, and grew up in New Bedford and Acushnet, Mass. She was the daughter of Francis Bernard and Eleanor (Martin) Bernard. As a young child, Sandra attended school at the Saint Francis Church within walking distance of her home in New Bedford, where she was taught by French-speaking nuns. Her family later moved to Acushnet, and she graduated from New Bedford High School in 1963.

She met her husband, Joe Perry, in 1969, and they were married in Exeter, N.H., in

1973. Following their marriage, they moved to Waterford, where they raised their family.

Sandra worked in the Waterford school system for many years, first as a teacher’s aide and later as a secretary at Clark Lane Middle School and at Waterford High School. She retired in 2002, as secretary to the principal of Waterford High School. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and especially spending time with her family. Sandra and her husband enjoyed traveling after they retired including visits to many national parks and numerous Caribbean cruises.

In addition to her husband, Joe, she is survived by her sons, Keith Perry of Waterford, and Michael Perry of Norwich; and by her daughter Debra Perry of Medford, Mass.; her sister Sharon Sylvia; brother Brian Bernard; four grandchild­ren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by her brothers, David Bernard and Richard Bernard.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private service will be held at a later date for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sandra’s name may be to the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n or Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
