Old Lyme boys advance to Shoreline Conference quarters

Old Lyme — Colbe Andrews and Jacob Ritchie combined to shoot 12 for 13 from the free throw line and both scored 14 points as sixth-seeded Old Lyme defeated No. 11 Westbrook 5750 in a Shoreline Conference tournament first round boys' basketball game on Saturday.

Caden Monte had 11 points for Old Lyme (7-6), which will play at No. 3 Valley Regional in Tuesday's quarterfinals. Old Lyme won the only regular-season game between the two on March 8, 67-57 in overtime.

Jack Naccarato had 20 points and Joey Caslin scored 11 for the White Knights, who beat Old Lyme in their only regular-season meeting (73-62, Feb. 16).

In other games:

• Devin Marquez scored 10 as third-seeded Windham beat No. 5 Griswold on Friday night, 33-30, in an Eastern Connecticut Conference North Division quarterfinal. Windham led at halftime, 16-5. Tyler Greene had eight points, six rebounds and four blocks for the Wolverines (5-6).

Women's lacrosse

• Senior Etta Davis recorded her 100th career point with her first of four goals to lead Coast Guard Academy to a 17-9 season-opening win over Emerson in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. Freshman Addy Bass and sophomore Gianna Cascio both added two goals and one assist while freshman Maria del Rosario Chan scored twice. Senior Mary Budri made six saves in goal for the Bears, who held a 40-19 edge in shots and 19-7 advantage in draw controls.

• Katelyn Dyer had seven goals and three assists as the Fighting Scots of Gordon College defeated Mitchell College 25-2. Hannah Corrigan and Jessica Krupnikoff each scored a goal for the Mariners (0-4) while Lindsey Fairbanks added an assist.

College softball

• Mitchell and Norwich University split a doubleheader in New London, the Mariners winning th4 opener 3-1 with Norwich bouncing back to win the second game 12-4. Katelyn Lipsky itched a three-hitter with eighth strikeouts in the opener for Mitchell (2-4), which scored its three runs in the fifth inning on five consecutive hits, including an RBI double by Lipsky to tie the game, an RBI double by Ismarie Marrero to put Mitchell ahead and an RBI single by Laurissa Amaker for some insurance. Jossette Madison had a two-run double for the Mariners in the second game.

Boys' indoor track and field

• Gavin Asciolla won both the 55 meters (6.8) and long jump (18-11) for Fitch in its meet against East Lyme. Thomas Williams won the 300 (38.8) and teamed with Joshua Letellier, Om Patel and Fernando Coreas to win the 4x200 relay (1:38.2) for Fitch. Its other winners were Thomas Forde (1,000, 2:44.6), Colin Riley (55 hurdles, 10.5), Noah Brown (shot put, 425.5) and Nick Vogel (high jump, 5-5). Kai Ritz won the 600 (1:49.7), Fisher Macklin won the 1,600 (4:47) and both teamed with Fred Rukundo and Magnum Brandt to win the 4x400 (3:44.8). Graham Glander also won the pole vault for the Vikings (8-6).

Girls indoor track and field

• East Lyme's Brie am Ende won the 1,000 (3:26.2) and high jump (48) and teamed with Ellen McCoy, Caroline Real and Emma Treptow to win the 4x400 (4:30.7) in a meet against Fitch. Other winners for East Lyme were Katherine Harris (300, 44.8), Ashley Zelesky (55 hurdles, 10.0), Savannah Soleau (shot put, 35-2.5), Jayla Washington (long jump, 16-1), Sjodin Fedikovich (pole vault, 8-0) and McCoy (600, 1:45.2). Amaris Johnson won the 55 meters (8.7), Kelsi Ursini the 1,600 (5:48.3) and the team of Avery Lyon, Ashley Spreng, Natalia Ryan and Johnson won the 4x200 (1:56) for the Falcons.

Girls' gymnastics

• Lydia Laskey won the all-around to help Stonington top Norwich Free Academy, 133.3-127.95, in the ECC. Hanna Laskey won the bars (8.45) and Lila Rich the beam (9-2) for Stonington (5-0). Arianna Gauthier won the vault (8-6) for the Wildcats (4-3) and Sarah Fedeli won the floor (8.4).

Boys' fencing

• New London's Christopher Bell won all three of his foil matches to lead the Whalers to a 7-2 win over Waterford. The Lancers won the mixed epee, 6-2.

Girls' fencing

• Taylor Wininger-Sieve won all three of her foil matches to pace Waterford to a 7-2 win over New London. Waterford also won the mixed epee, 6-3.
